Before I became a Christian, I used to have occasional pangs of guilt. I tried hard to squelch them, but now and again I'd decide I needed to change the way I was living. You know, do away with a few bad habits, and get myself back on track! I bought self-help books, attended counseling sessions, and talked to my friends. I got "the patch," started working out, and even gave up alcohol for a while. No matter how hard I tried, however, and no matter how long things went well, I always seemed to slip back to my "old self" eventually. Nothing ever really seemed to change. Finally, though, God broke through my hardened heart. Once I embraced Him, things started to change for real. I'm far from perfect mind you, but I must admit it's been years since most of my old "habits" have even been heard of. For me even to consider smoking a cigarette or walking into a bar would be absurd, but ONLY because the Lord changed my heart. If left to my own devices, I'd probably still be a walking DUI!
"Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil." Jeremiah 13:23
"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God ALL things are possible.'" Matthew 19:26
