Have you ever wondered why God viewed the act of disobedience by Adam and Eve so seriously? At first glance it seems like such a simple thing--eating a single bite from a piece of forbidden fruit. The real problem was twofold however. One, they willingly chose to follow Satan instead of their maker. And two, ANY SIN was enough to sever man's relationship with a holy and perfect God. There simply can be no sin in heaven. God cannot even look upon it. Fortunately, just as one man's sin was enough to infect all of mankind, Jesus' perfect life and willing sacrifice is enough to save all who'll seek it.
"Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." Romans 5:18-19
