I'm a high-energy guy. I like to get things done, and get them done on time. As far as I'm concerned, there's no time for sitting around when there's work to be done. As a Christian, and as a minister, I struggle constantly between the desire to keep all my "ducks on a row," and my need to spend solid quality time with God. For some, the desire for money can also be incredibly strong. Any Christian with an unquenchable desire to be wealthy, will also struggle to find time alone with God. Like me, when the time comes for quiet time with the Lord, they'll start to run through all the things they need to get done in their heads. If the desire to be with the Lord doesn't win out, they'll slowly start to slip in their faith. Satan will have made another would-be awesome Christian into a robot on a hellish mission. Maybe you struggle with one of these areas. Let me assure you, the work will get done much better once you've had your perspective adjusted by your Lord. Don't let the enemy rip the Word from your heart!
"The one who received the seed [Word of God] that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 13:20-23)
