Friends,
Have you wondered what’s going on with the incredible increase in young people (and some old) who have “come out” as gay, transgender, bisexual, etc., etc., in the last few years. Honestly, I can’t think of a day where I haven’t seen or heard of it. I recently read a book with some great statistics on this subject suggesting the instances of middle-school children announcing they are transgender or “non-binary” is up a full 400% in the United States since 2017, and at least 700% in Europe during the same time period. Has God decided to all of a sudden change the way He makes people sexually? Has He just made mistake after mistake so people are now misgendered? I think not. Actually, I know not.
What is happening is as old as time itself. It happened over and over in the Old Testament, and again when people “did in their own eyes that which was right.” And again in the New Testament when people claimed to be what we would call “woke” today, or have information beyond what God has said or asserted. The book of Galatians or just chapter one of Romans would be good reading for anyone who cares to look into it further. But to generalize, first people decide to ignore/discount God’s Word and His ways. He asserts Himself over and over again, but the people continue to discount Him, and even His very existence. And so He gives them what they want. A life without His wisdom, which causes a great spiritual blindness. That blindness causes people to wonder around in the “dark’ where Satan and his angels are never resting. Where we are today is the result.
And so I ask, would you insult or defame a blind person for being blind? Certainly not! Even if they claimed to see, they would still be blind. I believe the only way to reach them is with the Light. The Light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ might hurt when it shines in the darkness, but it is the ONLY answer!
Blessings in Christ,
Jim Kilby
