Friends,
Do you know something I love? A good thrift store find. There is something about uncovering a deal, something someone else has discarded, at a price just right for me! Kids clothes are always something I look for, but I have found many off the wall things too, like a spectacular old coffee grinder. I will proudly display it on my counter as both functional and pretty!
You know what is maybe even better than a good thrift store find? Knowing the heart behind the thrift store. Second Harvest is the store run by the ministry to bring in funds for the ministry – but it is so much more! It is often a “face” to the community where we can serve our nearby low-income neighbors with affordable and sometimes free goods. By charging low, reasonable prices we strive to create a store where everyone has access to essential household items and clothing regardless of their financial circumstances.
Yes, Second Harvest takes in used items and resells them to the community, but more we want to serve our community and be known as a place where people are treated with dignity and respect. We really try hard to provide customer service, reasonable pricing, and of course, great finds!
Blessings,
Elizabeth Kilby
Journal Notes:
* Groceries were ordered for another family who needed some help during a hard time!
* Clothing was given to a homeless man who was brought to the store by his case worker.
