It's not fun to be mocked for your faith, or to be teased or ridiculed because you are a Christian. Jesus ran counter to the culture that was around Him, and anyone who sincerely follows Him today will also be viewed as counter culture. Possibly even hostile to the culture. Lest we forget, Satan controls most of the world around us, and we should not be shocked that things are not going our way. He has deceived the world, just as we too were once deceived. God is not surprised by what is happening in our world, and we shouldn't be either. Still, we are called to be different--to be salt and light in a lost world. To love those who persecute us, and only to hate sin--not to hate people. Be encouraged! Do not lose heart when evil prevails and good people suffer tragedy! If you are being persecuted for your faith, it is an honor bestowed on you by your Lord. Imagine the day He looks you in the eyes and proclaims, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
"In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." 2 Timothy 3:12-13
