"I was faithful!," the young person said... to which I responded, "For how long?" Being faithful is exactly what Christ wants from us, but like fidelity or truthfulness, we need to continue--to keep up what we've begun for it to be worth anything. Far too many people "try" Jesus, only to choose to try something else later. Interesting, that's the same way many Americans approach marriage--they try it, the don't like it, so they try it again with someone else or give up on it all together. May I suggest that a person has never been truly married until they're married for life. And, you aren't truly faithful to Jesus until He's your God forever, no matter what happens to suggest you put your faith somewhere else.
"Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Jesus of Nazareth (Revelation 2:10b)
