"... but I won't give Him any of my money!"
Sounds kind of crazy, doesn't it? Could a person really love the Lord and still refuse to help those in need, to give when God asks, or to support his/her church? I would argue that the two things, loving the Lord and supporting His causes, go hand-in-hand. Of course, one person may have more or less to give, but it's not the amount that matters. As long as one gives out of a right heart and a right motive, God will bless and approve the gift.
Now, imagine you say you love your brother, or your country, and you owe them and refuse to pay. Likewise, God's Word would condemn you.
"This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:6-8
