I believe in my grandmother. What's more, I believe that my grandmother has a genuine and awesome faith in Christ. She certainly believed long before I was ever born, and prayed for me and even pointed me in the way of the Truth. Still, for me to believe in my grandmother, or even in my grandmother's faith is not enough. Those around us who point us to the Truth are merely servants of the Most High God. Our pastors, parents, and other ministers and servants deserve our respect, our appreciation and our prayers, but faith in them will do us no good. We must have a personal faith in Jesus Christ, and trust in Him alone. Even giants of the faith like John the Baptist, and apostles like Paul and Peter were only servants, and they said as much quite frequently. Follow those who are walking in the faith, but put your faith only in the One who can save your soul!
"While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked the, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?' They answered, 'No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.' So Paul asked, 'Then what baptism did you receive?' 'John's baptism,' they replied. Paul said, 'John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.' On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus." Acts 19:1-5
