"Peace baby! It's O.K. Everything is cool!"
Do you have high hopes for the future? Deep down inside, do you feel like things are going to be okay? There are times when I'd do anything to feel that way, but I can't. God's Word leads me to believe He will have to return before things will truly get better. The signs of the end are coming more rapidly these days. Just today I heard a news story about people being implanted with microchips that will one day be able to contain all the information about them--checking accounts, medical information, whether or not they are terrorists, or Christians! There are some who believe these microchips could one day be the long-awaited "mark of the beast" spoken of in the book of Revelation. If you watched the news today (or any day in the last year), you'll have seen a complete lack of restraint on the part of terrorists the world over, including those attacking America and Israel. Events like these and many others happening each and every day have long been foretold by God's Word. Will things get better? Yes, they most certainly will. But I'd be lying to you if I told you I thought that they'd be ushered in by men's accomplishments. Mankind will continue his downward spiral, but Christians must stand in the gap. We are to be the salt and light of the Earth, and to stand firm, even in the worst of times. No, I don't think things are going to be okay until He returns, but I know that none of these events are taking my Lord by surprise. Stand firm then... and pray! A hurting world needs to know about your Savior!
"Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled." 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
