When I was a teen there were several "rites of passage" a teen needed to perform (or at least pretend to perform) before they were accepted as "cool" in the group I hung with. I was a follower when I was younger, and I fell into the trap they laid more than once. I did extreme things to be accepted by the group, only to find a new even more extreme challenge. The truth is the group really wasn't that cool after all. The years have proved that things that once were considered rites of passage have now proven very destructive in the lives of those who continue them. Drinking, casual sex, drugs, and the like will take their toll on a person fast. Thanks be to God He didn't lose faith I would one day give Him my life. Thanks be to God for the teens that have the strength in Him to stand firm in the face of taunting and other forms of negative peer pressure. May they be an example for many others.
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
