Friends,
I am watching a video of someone freeze drying eggs. I don’t own chickens, and other than for baking, I don’t like eggs. It’s kind of a strange video to hold my attention but I have diligently watched 15 minutes of her prepping and explaining the freeze dry process.
I think it is because something about her lifestyle speaks to me. She lives on a small farm, processes a lot of her own vegetables, grows beautiful flowers, and always has animals around. She clearly works hard to cultivate this life and something about it draws me in every time.
It makes me wonder how my life looks to the people around me. I heard a quote once that said, “Never take advice from someone you wouldn’t switch places with.” For years I have thought about this as I have given advice to young women and tried to live my life in front of them, attempting to earn the right to speak into their lives.
I realized to some, the way I try to live will be appealing, life giving even, and will encourage others in their walk with the Lord. To others, no matter how hard I try, following the Lord will be the smell of death – just as I imagine living on a farm might be to some of you!
I am thankful that ultimately the Lord is in charge of it all and only calls me to be faithful with my obedience to Him, not anyone else’s obedience or heart change. I am grateful for how He has shown Himself faithful time after time in the lives of these young women.
In Christ,
Aaron and Elizabeth Kilby
