What do you want said about you after you pass from this life? One of my college professors actually had our class write out our individual obituaries. He wanted us to start thinking of our life goals. Although the professor wasn't a Christian, I believe he was on to something that Christians can use. Few of us ever really think about the legacy we're leaving with our name. Often, we're more concerned with ourselves and the moment we're living in. For those who do think more long-term, they rarely think beyond their next job, how they'll send their kids to college, or maybe what they'll leave to who in a will. Christians should be really long-term thinkers, because unlike those who'll spend eternity apart from God, we'll be able to enjoy all the great gifts God is preparing in heaven eternally. As for me, I want a great tag-line behind my name when the Lord thinks of me.... something like, "Jim Kilby, faithful servant" would be nice. Recently I found one that few Christ followers would ever want behind their name, but far more will probably wind up with.
"... and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him." Matthew 10:4b
