You're Not The Boss Of Me!
As the oldest of four kids, I was routinely left "in charge" of the troops when my parents were out of the house. Now, I may have been left in charge from my parent's perspective, but my brothers and sisters often didn't see things that way. With all the leadership skills of a twelve year old, I can still remember yelling at my beloved siblings, "Hey, I'm in charge here!" To which they'd respond, "You're not the boss of me!" And, like most good big-brothers, I'd punch them in the arm or something! In the Spiritual realm, many people look to angels, or demons, or even trees and stars as the "bosses" of our world. Instead, God has clearly told us in His Word that He put His Son, Jesus, in charge. Jesus may have temporarily left His throne to come and witness and die, but those days are over. We can yell, "You're not the boss of me!" all we want, but Jesus is on the throne whether the world likes it or not!
"It is not to the angels that he [God] has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified: 'What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man [Jesus] that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels [while He was in the flesh]; you crowned him with glory and honor and put everything under his feet.' In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him." Hebrews 2:5-9a
