The thing that bothers me most about my Christian faith is the moments where little seems to have changed deep down in my heart. Fortunately, the Spirit always finds it urgent to remind me that I am living a new life--a life with Christ at the helm. In reality, much has changed within me. Still, there is a problem. Until we pass from this life into the next, we are still flesh and blood. The "flesh" as the Bible calls it, is sinful to the core. That's why it's so important not to let the flesh do the leading, instead allowing the Spirit of God to control our thoughts and actions. We must count ourselves dead to self, and dead to sin. The only life we live, we live in Christ. Any other attitude opens the door to a life that mocks Jesus' sacrifice.
"We died to sin; how can live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:2b-4
