"Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis. A conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God. That they cannot be violated except with His wrath. I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just. And that His justice cannot sleep forever." -- Thomas Jefferson
I heard a well thought-out comment from a Christian leader on the new. He was lamenting the idiotic court decision to have the words "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States. His comment... "Our Constitution guarantees people the freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion!" Excellent point, and one that should be taken to heart by anyone who would remove references to God anywhere they find them. Americans who believed in God put those words in the Pledge--who are unbelievers to take them out? It's also interesting that the money these folks use to file these ridiculous lawsuits has "In God We Trust" clearly printed on every piece of it. Here's the way I see it. If a person wants freedom from God, they will get it sooner than they think. An eternity in hell will fit that wish perfectly. Fortunately, God loves these non-believers enough to continue to submit Himself and His Prophets to their ridicule. His longsuffering attitude is not eternal however.
"The nations on every shore will worship him, every one in its own land." Zephaniah 2:11b
