The thing that really bothers me about my faith is when I find myself taking a step or two down the wrong road. Have I forgotten about the cross? Have I forgotten what God did to save me from the grips of the one I seem to be inching toward again? I don't think I've "forgotten," but maybe my eyes get refocused on "self" and thereby less focused on Jesus and what He would have me doing with my days. Either way, I'm not alone. I have an endless stream of Christians sitting in my office and confessing sins they once thought they'd left in the dust! Friends, we are sinners--through and through! The problem is much more persistent than we believe, and even a few moments of unfocused thought can get us back into serious trouble. The problem is that we have not truly died to sin. Until we do, we'll continue to struggle with our own flesh. Focus on Jesus! The death He died gives us the chance to die to sin. He's our only hope!
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24
