Like most people, I like it when my work is praised. I get embarrassed a little when I'm recognized in front of a large group of people, but deep down inside it gives me a warm feeling. There's nothing wrong with knowing you've done a good work, and humbly accepting praise for it. The problems arise when we either don't give God the glory for what He's done through us, or when we would rather have the praise of men than of God. As you walk with the Lord, there will be plenty of times when you won't get praise from men. In fact, if you walk closely enough to Him, there'll be times when the people around you will think you're crazy! If you truly believe in and are working for God, it will still hurt when others point their fingers at you, but you'll know God approves and you'll "keep on keepin' on!" Those who were working for praise from others will cease doing the Lord's work in favor of more acceptable notions.
"How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God." John 5:44
