"What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me." Job 3:25
No doubt terrible things happened to God's servant Job, and none of it because of any sin in his life. Rather, God used Job to teach the devil a little something about faith. In the end, all of God's purposes for Job's difficulties were revealed. I wonder though, what Job appears to be saying in the above verse is, "I was afraid this would happen!" Haven't we all said something similar when bad things we predicted come our way? The more I learn about how God works, the more I realize that much of what happens to us is our own doing, and not His! Sure, He's in charge of our ultimate destiny, and He's involved in everything on earth, but we still have the freedom to "choose" to follow our own paths. What's more, we also have the freedom to "think our own thoughts," and seemingly bring destruction upon ourselves because of our own lack of faith. God doesn't expect us to walk around with our heads in the clouds or anything, but He DOES want us to trust in Him, and not to walk in fear. I believe our own fears may be the biggest enemy we have.
"But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. 'Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.". 1 Peter 3:13-14
