"MY" certainly seems to be the word of the day. My children certainly know that word, and they learned it early. Many of the teenagers I work with know it well, demanding what the world owes them! Refusing to do anything they don't absolutely feel like doing. A young pregnant girl I chatted with recently was considering abortion, shouted to me, "It's MY body!" "Really," I said, "you told me you gave your life to Christ!" Surely we get a sense of ourselves being separate from others almost from birth, but where did this whole ME and MINE thing come from? I'll tell you where. It came right from the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve committed the first sin. They did it because of "pride," and we are STILL sinning because of pride! Jesus came to this Earth to redeem all those who would accept His free gift of eternal salvation. Many of you have accepted this gift and allowed Jesus to purchase, redeem, buy, and otherwise accept responsibility for your soul. This being the case, what exactly do you have to call "YOURS" that you were not freely given by a gracious and loving God? That being the case, how about getting on your knees and practicing a new word--"Yours!"
"For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord."
