One of the things I most enjoy about my daily quiet time is the investment I'm allowed to make for other people each day. In a ministry like mine, there are lots of opportunities to pray for other folks, but as important as they are, I keep those requests near the middle of my prayer list. At the very TOP of my prayer list, before my children or even my ministry are mentioned, my wife and my marriage are posted as reminders of what's most important. After I spend some time praising and thanking God for His work in my life and in my home, I move right to prayer for my wife and for my marriage. Even as teens, I think you would be wise to do the same. Even for those of you who are ten or more years away from marriage, I still recommend the same priorities in your prayer life! Pray for your "spouse to be" and for your marriage even before you consider who that person might be. Pray that they would be strong in their faith, and that they would love God and love others! Pray that YOU would be able to fit THEIR needs as a husband or as a wife! I cannot stress this enough... If my wife was not strong in her faith and if she didn't do all she could to raise our children to be strong in THEIR faith, I probably wouldn't even be able to be in ministry. What's more... as you pray for your "spouse to be," it will do wonders for keeping your heart pure as well.
"A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones." Proverbs 12:4
