Friends,
This past weekend I was reminded by a wise woman, seeds don’t produce fruit right after you plant them. This seems logical for anyone who has ever planted a garden or some flower seeds. Even school children putting beans in cups know sprouting takes days and fruit takes much longer.
I wrote before about a young woman who yelled at me because in her mind, I expected her to change and be perfect immediately. It wasn’t true. But looking back, I must admit, I probably was expecting it to be a much quicker process.
We had known her for years. Aaron had led her to the Lord. We spoke truth and life to her, prayed for her, and loved on her. But God right? It felt like the seed was just content sitting in the ground, maybe showing some potential for growth but then, still nothing.
Eventually, this young lady’s situation moved her away from us and God graciously gave her more mentors, more truth spoken to her, more prayers, and more love. I am forever grateful to those people. We may have planted the seed, they may have watered it, but God made it grow (and in His own, very unrushed timing!).
I am forever thankful for the young lady she is today. I am delighted to call her a friend. She is an excellent reminder to keep doing the right things as long as God calls us to it!
Blessings,
Elizabeth Kilby
