Have you ever noticed how spoiled Americans seem to be? I've traveled the world, and I can safely tell you it's true--Americans have just about everything they can imagine, and often they don't even know it. The Bible tells us that something similar happened to the Israelites. God would bring them back to a place where they appreciated Him and all His blessings, and, not too long afterward, they'd begin to forget again. It was a vicious cycle that repeated itself for several thousand years. Similarly, have you ever noticed how folks who've been in the church for a long time can become bored with it, while new believers seem to carry all the zeal and excitement a person can carry? It's the same principal! You see, people have this nasty little habit of taking what they have, each other, and even God for granted. Just watch a person who's facing a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one and you'll quickly see not only what's important in life, but also the end of that person taking things for granted. Sometimes God allows difficult times into our lives so we'll be able to see Him again.
"Sing to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." Psalm 30:4-5
