Have you ever been around a "nay sayer"? You know, someone who just has to be negative about everything--seeing the world and everything around them as some sort of conspiracy against them? If so, I feel for you! That type of relationship can be incredibly draining. No doubt, I've been there myself a time or two. If you know what I'm talking about, then you might also have noticed that these incredibly pessimistic folks seem to have more bad fortune than the people around them. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. They expect disaster, tell everyone about it, and here it comes! The Bible has much to say about this type of talk. Both negative and positive talk can actually help define what happens to us and how we fare in both good and bad times.
"An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk, but a righteous man escapes trouble. From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things as surely as the work of his hands rewards him." Proverbs 12:13-14
How's your talk been lately? Maybe it's time to pay attention to what's coming out of your mouth. You might just be your own worst enemy!
