Among what seems like a large number of "church folks," I get this feeling that many are totally uninterested in helping those who have yet to embrace Jesus. It's like many folks think the church is some sort of "exclusive" country club instead of the Body of Christ. Recent statistics back up my claim, too. I just read a Barna poll that found that less than 1 in 10 people claiming to be "born again Christians" ever lead another person to the Lord. I believe this grieves our Savior immensely. Might I even suggest that someone not wanting to share Jesus with others either doesn't know what they've been given, or doesn't understand it. Either way, Jesus' approach was anything but "exclusive!" Why should ours be?
"See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 18:10-14)
