Imagine for a moment that you're in jail. Really, imagine it just for a moment. Now, imagine that the jail is a filthy dungeon with human waste and rotting flesh all around you. Now imagine that you're in this jail illegally--that you were actually stripped and beaten by a mob and had your legs chained because.... are you ready for this one? Because you told someone about Jesus Christ! Yep, that's right! Because you shared with someone the greatest news man has ever received from God! Far fetched? It wasn't in Biblical times. And if you read up on what's happening to Christians all over the world today, you'll find that even worse things are going on right now! If you can, imagine with me for just one more moment... imagine that you're in this cell again, but now you've got a friend who just went through the same thing there with you. You're there tired, and swollen and bleeding. Let me ask you... what are you doing in your vision?
"The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were PRAYING AND SINGING HYMNS TO GOD, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. The jailer woke up... The jailer called for lights, and rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, What must I do to be saved?'" Acts 16:22-30 (Emphasis mine)
