Friends,
My job is weird. I keep office hours in the afternoons but most of the time I find emergencies don't happen on a schedule. My phone is on almost all the time, and I receive messages with car repair updates, requests for help, updates about job hunts, court dates, and doctor's appointments - all the life things. On any given day I may be homeschooling my kids and trying to solve a housing crisis all at the same time.
When Aaron and I first started working with Harvest House, sometimes these messages would send me into a bit of a tailspin. I felt like my responses and solutions needed to be immediate. It felt like any delay on my part could result in disaster which often led to hasty decisions and half solutions. Fortunately, working with a team who needed to sign off on some of my crazy ideas slowed me down enough to keep me out of trouble.
I don't remember the first time I read the verse above, but recently it hit me, if God doesn't always respond immediately, maybe I don't need to either. I love how this verse reminds me I can bring my requests, and their requests, to God and wait expectantly for a reply. All the women who message me can wait expectantly for a reply. Slowing down enough to pray, reach out to community, and then move forward has been an amazing blessing as we have watched miracles unfold we would have otherwise missed.
If you could please pray for my dear friends Y and A as they are going through some life struggles right now and join me with the expectation God hears our prayers and will respond just as they need, I would appreciate it. Both are in "stuck" situations, but we know God is in it with them and can work the details for their good.
In Christ,
Aaron and Elizabeth Kilby
