"What did I ever do to you?" seems to be the question those destined for hell intend to ask God. I guess there was a day in my life when I thought the same way. "Why would God be so angry at me?... I'm a pretty good guy." The problem really wasn't God's problem, but rather MY problem. My thinking was as messed up as it could get. Everything I did, I did for me... And everything I said pushed God away. To me, it appeared that those serving God were the fools. They gave up everything and received nothing! I gave up nothing and had everything.. or so I thought! People are destined for hell not because they necessarily embrace the devil, but because they deny God. Many of the guilty are even those who once appeared to embrace Him, but fell away when the desires of their hearts exposed their true motives. Speak ill of God if you will. Decide to fall away if you will. Deny His existence if you will. But no matter how great things appear to look when you deny, don't ever doubt that you will one day regret your decision. As for me, I'll eternally thank Him for wrecking my self-made world!
"You have said harsh things against me," says the Lord. "Yet you ask, 'What have we said against you?' You have said, 'It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord almighty? But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape. Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who fear the Lord and honored his name. 'They will be mine,' says the Lord Almighty, 'in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. AND YOU WILL AGAIN SEE THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED, BETWEEN THOSE WHO SERVE GOD AND THOSE WHO DO NOT.'" Malachi 3:13-18 (Emphasis mine)
