Have you ever sat and considered the real motives behind much of what you do? I have, and sometimes I don't like what I see. Sure, I'm a minister. Much of what I do with my days is good for other people, but the real question is not what I do, but why do I do it? Just about anything can be done for selfish reasons, and "church work" is no exception. When we call Jesus Lord, we're supposed to consider ourselves dead, living only to further His kingdom, and do His bidding. Unfortunately, far too many Christians have never considered the true meaning of the word "Lord." Unless of course they were thinking of their own little kingdom's. God is not impressed with anything we do for ourselves. Those deeds only stand as witnesses of our guilt before a Holy God. We simply need to surrender and join God's glorious chain gang!
Obey them [bosses, masters] not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart." Ephesians 6:6
Jesus, I need more of You, and less of me! I need to use the gifts You've freely given me to serve whoever You place in my path. It's not about me, or about serving myself. Anything selfishly done just for personal gain is worthless in Your eyes. It's a waste of time, and a waste of the precious gifts You've entrusted me with.
