Throughout the Scriptures, when the Spirit of God moved and caused people to do great and mighty things, witnesses to these events often wanted to exalt these people. Moses, Peter, Paul, and, of course, Jesus and countless others all had this happen to them. Of course, genuine disciples of God always rejected the praise of men and gave the glory to God -- the rightful recipient. The Scriptures also warned us that another day would come. A day when men would not reject the glory but would pridefully seek it. When Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all men," He meant for us to go and make disciples for Him not for ourselves. While there are no doubt more righteous and humble ministers of the Lord than there are wolves in sheep's clothing, that's not always the case. Any true minister of Christ will always give the glory to God. Be careful who you follow and be careful who you cause to follow you.
The Apostle Paul to ministers..."Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own member men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples AFTER THEM.'" Acts 20:28-30 (Emphasis mine)
