As time vaults me forward, I've begun to notice some of my favorite clothes are shrinking... errr, I mean I guess I'm putting on a few pounds and they don't fit right anymore. It's a bummer too, 'cause after you stop growing, it's neat that you don't have to buy new clothes or shoes just because you've grown out of them. Not so many years ago, I actually took a few of my favorite blue jeans to the point where they were completely thread bear. Maybe you've had an old pair of jeans like that... the kind where when you finally throw them out, you can honestly say they've lived a good long life. Here's the painful part about putting on the pounds though. Recently I had to give away a pair of jeans that weren't worn at all. I'm not even sure I ever put them on my body. "What a shame," I thought... "a perfectly good pair of jeans with so much potential. Too bad I never got any use out of them." When compared to the well worn ones, it seemed kind of sad. Then I wondered.... is that similar to how God feels when He sees a Christian grow old and never really minister to anyone else? I don't know about you, but I'd rather be the Christian who's served my Lord and others diligently and then die worn out and tired. I'd rather feel like I lived a life worthy of His call.
"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'" Matthew 25:23
