I like to get involved in things I know something about and try to make a difference. I'm an active guy with a pretty good head on my shoulders, and so I get involved in a lot of different types of ministries and the like. I also get quite passionate about things I'm involved in and can fight for them with a lot of vigor. While there's nothing wrong with that, having a lot of different experiences can make you appear to be a "know it all," and it can even make a person think a little too highly of themselves. The Scriptures warn of such things, and even without the Biblical warning, most people are probably careful about elevating themselves in their own eyes. I wonder though, how often people consider that there are times when even talking too much can in itself open the door to sin. So you know a lot, and can make a difference, but that doesn't mean you have to share everything you know every time you open your mouth. As many have said before me, we have two ears and one mouth... let's try to use them in that ratio.
"When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise." Proverbs 10:19
