When God picked the Aaron and his sons as the priests for the Israelites, He commanded Moses to take them to the "Tent of Meeting," have them washed (ceremonially cleaned), dress them in the royal-like priestly garments, and then sprinkle them with the blood from the sacrifice that was made as payment for their sins and also with holy anointing oil. Even though I spend much more time in New Testaments readings, I always enjoy the incredible way God foreshadowed what Jesus was to do for us in so many Old Testament writings. In this example, God painted a perfect picture of Jesus' blood being sprinkled over believers hearts and how they would be "ceremonially cleaned" from their sins. The anointing oil, applied to them both by sprinkling and by application, set them apart as priests. Today, Christians are all members of the "priesthood of believers." The bathing they underwent was even passed on by our heavenly Father as modern-day baptism. The priests took a bath in front of the whole nation of Israel... today's Christians confess their faith and are baptized in the presence of a congregation of believers.
Have no doubt dear friends... your salvation was foreseen since the beginning of time! Oh, how much our God loves us!
"Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and is garments and on his sons and their garments." Leviticus 8:30a
