I was chatting with a young man who has wondered from church to church and denomination to denomination for years. "Finally," he said, "I found my niche in the Unitarian church." Considering the fact that many of the churches he'd attended (some for extended periods of time) were solid theologically, I found it hard to believe he'd found a comfortable home with a church that really isn't a church at all. As he put it, "We're all on a journey... my new church doesn't tell you which path to take, but urges you to continue YOUR journey." Since I'm not one to be shy, my first thought was to ask him what they would do if he were on the path to hell? Instead, we talked about truth and the fact that Jesus IS Truth. We'll have more opportunities to sit and discuss the good new of Jesus' atonement for our sins, but organizations and churches that lead people away from Christ will still have the power of evil at their command. Beware of their deceptive tactics, not only for yourself but for those you love and mentor. Expose them if you can!
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." Colossians 2:8
