Although my rapidly graying hair might suggest that I'm a middle aged man, my often sophomoric approach to life suggests otherwise. If you're anything like me, no matter how old you are, part of you will still feel like a child. It's that part of us that Jesus called out to when he said, "... unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." In today's culture we often overlook youthful transgressions long after people can honestly be considered youth. I recently saw a man in his thirties shunning responsibility for a heinous act he'd committed, asserting that he was "too young for the responsibility." In Jesus' day (and still in some Jewish homes today) a boy became a man at 13. Sure, keep the child alive inside of you, and let that child-like faith drive you into the Savior's arms. But when it comes to taking responsibility for your actions, and especially for your walk with the Lord, it's time to act your age!
"Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walking in the ways of his father David, not turning to the right or to the left." 2 Chronicles 34:1
