"I wish these old people would stop complaining." "I wish these kids would dress more appropriately for church." "If they treat me like that again, they'll get what's coming to them for sure!"
I guess I wish "church folk" could get along better. I don't know if you hear similar complaints and arguments going on in your church, but I get to travel around a little and I've heard them in mine and in many other churches. Have you been guilty of complaining about those folks who are not in your specific homogeneous unit? Or maybe you're complaining about them, too! Well... the next time you hear someone griping (or start to do it yourself), gently remind the offender of this command. Your church will be a better place for it!
"Finally, ALL OF YOU [old, young, crippled, healthy, etc.], live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing." 1 Peter 2:8-9
