I'm often asked why a loving God would send anyone to a terrible place like hell! Some religions (and even some Christian denominations) are so bothered by the concept that they've gone so far as to say that there could be no hell. It's as if to say Jesus must have been mistaken when He spoke of an eternal lake of fire. Since Jesus spoke of hell twice as much as He spoke of heaven, He must have been very mistaken! Are we also to assume there is no heaven? The simple answer is that God doesn't send anyone to hell, and He would not have one of us perish (2 Peter 3:9). Hell was not created for us, but rather for the devil and for his angels. We take the free choice God gave us and we choose to deny the One who made us. Just like Adam and Eve, we CHOOSE to follow Satan... all the way to HIS eternal "resting" place! The question is not why would God send any of us to hell... the real question is why would He sacrifice His Only Son so that any of us could go to heaven.
"Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 25:41b)
